“Big Red” is gone. That’s it! The end of the road for us together. She took the wheel and guided me in good times and bad. I raised my kidlets in this big hunk of metal. Or is it that my children raised me in it? I knew I had to let her go someday–it was just a matter of time.
When I bought her 14 years ago, at a time when bigger was better and not necessarily ecologically friendly, I thought it was the greatest thing in the world to be able to put my kids, a stroller, backpacks and groceries in the car all at the same time. We put much love into her–not to mention a lot of softball players, technology club members, and the entire gymnastics team! Oh, if Big Red could talk–she might say something like, “Wow, those girls sure can sing.” (not really) or “Can’t you drive any faster”?
Our lives have changed. People move on and material possessions soon become just “things.” I was a different person then and so was Big Red; weathered a bit but still in great shape. Today is the first day of the rest of our lives.
Bye, bye Big Red. Enjoy your new family. We will see you when we see you !
Let's Talk!
