Today is her birthday; she is ready to go
She sits by her pool away from cold weather
She is no fool, she got rid of her sweater.
She sits and stares at the cool desert views
Watching the sunset with warm valley hues.
Sipping a drink she calls her “sun tea.”
It tastes so wonderful; how can it be?
Where did she learn to make such a brew?
She’s had lots of practice with nothing to do.
She opens the fridge and to her dismay
the pitcher is empty, new lemons are needed;
“Time for a fresh batch,” she’s likely to say!
She grabs a new jug to make her beverage
Drops in a bag and throws in raw sugar.
It bakes in the sun as she waits in the shade
Wishing that yesterday the drink she had made.
“Delicious” she says, “Refreshment from heaven.”
She jumps from her lounger, a chair made of resin
Tea bags are costly; she must go to work
“Time to make money,” she says with a smirk.
An avid vacationer, to and fro
Her grandson calls and she is ready to go.
Frequent traveler and jet setter indeed
Grandaughter calls; turn off the TV
Back home to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
Her wind chimes play in the warm summer sun
She watches them dance enjoying the fun.
Sipping her tea on the patio so fine
While listening to the sound of the Soleri Bell Chime.
Today is her birthday; she is ready to go
She sits by her pool away from cold weather
She is no fool, she got rid of her sweater.
